Masterclasses

Before the festival evening starts, there are two Masterclasses organized. The Piano Masterclass and the Masterclass Boogie Woogie Dancing.

Piano Masterclass by Henry Butler

New Orleans Piano Legend Henry Butler (p/vcl, New Orleans, USA) will be giving a Piano Masterclass on Saturday March 8th, between 14:30 and 15:30 PM in hotel/congrescentre Heerlickheijd van Ermelo (the festival venue).

During the Masterclass, Henry will be sitting at the piano, playing and telling about New Orleans Boogie Piano, his views and experiences. The Masterclass is open for everybody and primarily meant to be attended by enthusiasts, fans and for amateur and professional piano players.

The Masterclass will take place in hotel/congrescentre Heerlickheijd van Ermelo, on Saturday March 8th 2008, between 14:30 PM en 15:30 PM.

Masterclass Boogie Woogie Dancing

Saturday afternoon, March 8th, before the festival evening, a Boogie Woogie Dancing Masterclass will take place in the festival venue hotel/congrescentre Heerlickheijd van Ermelo (the festival venue).

This Masterclass is for beginners and advanced dancers, and will be given by the multiple Dutch Champions Boogie Woogie Dance, Dave and Mascha Nieuwenburg.

Dave is Director competion dancing of the NRRA (the Dutch association for Rock & Roll, Boogie Woogie, Swing and acrobatic dance).

During the Masterclass, Dave en Mascha will explain the basics of Boogie Woogie dance. They'll tell about the two forms "slow and fast" boogie, interpretation of the music and will give an insight in the leading of the dance. Also, they will give the attendants of the Masterclass a basic of swing, so everybody can do a little boogie at the end.

The Masterclass will take place in hotel/congrescentre De Heerlickheijd van Ermelo (Burggraafzaal), on Saturday March 8th 2008, between 12:00 AM en 13:30 PM.
